Piesendorf / Walchen is located in the Salzachtal. This valley has a lot to offer in all four seasons. Enjoy the many outdoor winter activities, the fresh mountain air and the blossoming of the flowers in spring. Mountain biking, swimming, hiking in the summer and the beautiful colours in the fall.
The valley is known for its ‘Hohe Tauern National Park’ one of the largest nature reserves in Europe. The park has many highlights such as the highest mountain in Austria: The Grossglockner (3789 meters), the longest glacier of the eastern Alps ‘the Pasterzen glacier’ and the highest waterfall in Europe: the Krimmler waterfalls.
The ‘Tauern Radweg’ also runs through the valley. This cycling route is perfect if you want to explore the valley and is also perfect for less experienced cyclists and children. Along the route you’ll find picnic tables, swimming pools, restaurants and various lakes.
